Key Questions to Ask When Thinking of Thought Leadership
Defined as “content that is recognized as innovative coverage of trends and topics that influence an industry,” thought leadership calls for today’s leaders to leverage talent, experience and knowledge to help position their organizations as an expert source within a particular industry or profession. According to author Michael Brenner, consideration should be given to the benefits of a thought leadership strategy and how to execute it.

One of the strongest benefits of thought leadership, he says, is cultivating brand affinity. Through a thought leadership approach, Brenner says, your organization becomes part of a meaningful conversation with its audience, and seeks to identify topics that are most pressing. Then, among the best ways to establish authority on a given topic is to tap into your pool of expertise and conduct research to develop a depth of knowledge in that area that no one else possesses. The resulting thought leadership areas should be prioritized according to your audience’s concerns, Brenner says, and delivered in an engaging way across multiple channels.
